Sonic Glow Pots

Sonic Glow 500K Ohm Linear Potentiometers (patent #9,620,096) are volume & tone controls that illuminate. ​Designed for guitars using Humbucker style pickups, the Sonic Glow POTs are passive potentiometers that light up and come in ​Red, White, Blue, Green, Amber, and Pink, though other colors can be special-ordered. They are available with a Bell or Speed Knob top. ​For those using single-coil pickups,  a 250K potentiometer is available as a special order.

This is the back side of a Passive Volume or Tone POT Board. Use a 9 Volt battery to power up the LED in the POT. Wire your POT terminals 1, 2 and 3 as you would for any replacement POT. Finally, use a Tie Wrap to tie all 5 wires to the Sonic Glow POT’s PCB Board with the “Tie Wrap” hole provided! There is also a wire hole for GROUND as well as two surface rectangle areas to connect to GND like you would for any POT.

 ​Linear Potentiometers

Provide smoother tone sweeps — Gradual bright-to-mellow transition; avoids the abrupt high-frequency drop common with audio pots.  One of the advantages of linear pots are they give you finer volume control at high levels and a more usable range between 7–10 for precise adjustments (great for slightly cleaning up distortion)

Predictable Response

Linear pots give you a predictable response in active circuits — uniform 1:1 control for consistent frequency adjustments without jumps. 

Better Blending/Coil-Splitting

You also get better blending/coil-splitting — balanced, even mix between pickups or coils throughout the knob rotation. TO be more succinct, linear pots deliver more precise, musical control in many setups.

Tie wrap Mount Hole to Secure all Wires  

This secures all your wires, which prevents constant pulling and prevents detachment caused failures.

Clear silk-screening text labeling in plain English makes it incredibly easy to wire up even for a novice.

Easy Activation

Sonic Glow activates when a 1/4” plug is plugged into your guitar or bass. You’ll get about 60 hours from a standard alkaline 9-volt battery.

 Are designed to have less than 6Ω of resistance when turned fully up  

Very important when going directly into a tube pedal, tube amp or preamp, That lower resistance gives you more of the natural tone of your pickups!

Resistant to Scratchy Sounds Due to Age Type Wear  

Due to wear and tear, pots can become "scratchy" with time​. This gets rid of the #1 complaint on volume & tone controls.

Sealed - Doesn't Allow Dirt or Debris into the Wiper

Because the wiper element is sealed, you never have to spray pot cleaner into it and never have to worry about your Sonic Glow pots ever getting scratchy!
